Mayor Kenneth Nail is a life long resident of the City of Hanceville, except for two years when he resided in Moulton. During his time here he has served the city in multiple ways. Begining in 1982 he worked as a volunteer with the fire department, then in 1996 he began serving on the Cullman County 911 board and the Hanceville city council. He continued his service with all three until 2004.
After graduating from Hanceville High School in 1982, he continued his education at Wallace State college earning his certification as an Emergency Medical Technicial and was then granted a license by the state of Alabama. A short time later he continued his education by attending the Alabama Criminal Justice Training Center in Selma, Alabama and became a certified Alabama law enforcement officer.
Mayor Nail is a retired lieutenant with Cullman Police Department where he served for the last nineteen years. During his career he has worked for the Lawrence County Sheriff's department, Garden City Police Depatment, and the Kimberly Police Department.
In his limited off time he enjoys spending time with his family, wife Sabrina Surrett Nail, children Ashley, Erica, Ethan, Wesley, and Haana. Some of the activities they enjoy are camping, hiking, biking, and traveling.
